LAS VEGAS — The (IICRC) recently released its October 2015 edition of The Journal of Cleaning, Restoration & Inspection, according to a press release.

The new issue, now, offers a number of peer-reviewed technical articles for industry professionals.

Within the journal, readers will find article topics ranging from a collection of case studies examining “paired” air sampling and “air polishing” to how flame retardants can damage upholstery fabric.

Peer-reviewed technical articles in the October issue include:

• Condition 2 Settled Spores: Case Studies Examine a Method to Improve Their Detection and Removal, by William M. Vaughan, Ph.D., QEP, CIEC

The author describes a series of case studies in which a process called “paired” air sampling was used to test for the presence of Condition 2, settled spores. Additionally, a case study of a remediation process described as “air polishing” is presented.

• Haz-Map: A Freely Available Database of Selected Scientific Information About Occupational Health and Safety, by Melanie S. Sorrell, DVM, MS, MSLS

The author explains Haz-Map, an Internet-hosted relational database that allows users to query the database for relevant health-oriented literature about the epidemiology of job task-related or occupational diseases.

• Damage to Upholstery Fabrics Caused by Hidden Flame Retardants, by Tim Nelson

The author uncovers a “ticking” time bomb: Material treated with water-soluble flame retardant that deteriorates and wicks into the cover fabric, damaging cotton and certain types of dye.
